VIRTUAL WORLD
A VR headset can immerse a video game player in a virtual setting, including a football stadium.
A new high-tech video game promises to make anyone feel like a professional quarterback. This fall, the National Football League (NFL) plans to release NFL Pro Era, its first official video game designed completely for virtual reality, or VR.
A gamer wears a headset that displays a 360-degree view. The device immerses them in a 3-D virtual world where they can take on the role of their favorite pro football players. The headset has embedded cameras and motion sensors. These devices track a player’s movements. That guides their character around a fan-packed virtual stadium as they throw passes or run down the field to score a touchdown.
